The last Luxcup of the spring in Kristinehamn Arena took place this weekend with the class girls 2008 and it was a strong starting field that travelled to Värmland this weekend. The three four-team groups included Djurgårdens IF, Boo FF, Flint from Norway and Gothia Cup winners Hossmo BK from Kalmar.
Group stage
The Cup kicked off in Group A with a match between Bagarmossen Kärrtorp BK and Älta IF. It was an even affair where BKBK finally drew the longest straw and won by 2-1. The next match in Group A was played between Qviding and Djurgårdens IF. Djurgården took the lead from the start, kept it until the final whistle and won 3-0.
Group B was next up with a match between Karlstad team Qbik and Spånga IS. Spånga was the bigger team and started their cup adventure with a 2-0 win. Then Flint faced Boo FF in a real thriller of a football match. Flint took the lead and extended it before Boo FF started an impressive recovery that came to an end when they set the final score to 3-2 with the last kick of the match.
Last out on Friday was Group C, which started with two Stockholm teams, Stureby FF and Tyresö FF. Tyresö and their Liv Borgman were in a good mood and won 3-0 after a hat trick by Liv. Hossmo BK against Kullavik was next and there Hossmo showed that they were to be reckoned with when they won 4-0. Otherwise, Group C was very even and offered three 0-0 matches.

The play-offs
The Saturday ended with quarter-finals of the A play-offs. From them Djurgården, BKBK, Flint and Boo FF progressed to Semi finals. Djurgården with a 3-0 win against Hossmo, BKBK with a 1-0 win against Spånga, Flint with a 3-2 win against Tyresö and Boo FF with a 3-0 win against Kullavik.
B playoffs started directly with the semi-finals where Q faced Q. Qviding against Qbik. And as always when two teams with the same initial play against each other, the match ended in a draw. This after a late equaliser by Qviding who also drew the longest straw in the penalties and thus became ready for the B final. Their opponent there was Stureby after they defeated Älta 1-0 in the second semi-final. I the match for third prize Qbik beat Älta 2-1 after goals from sisters Wilma and Emilia Svensson.
Djurgården and Boo scored in the first the semi-finals of the A play-off. Boo booked their place in the final with a 2-0 victory thanks to goals from Alice Mark and Ella Karlebrink. In the other semi final BKBK played against Flint. BKBK's Astrid Månsson was the hero of the match with her hat-trick in the 5-1 win. Flint got their revenge in the match for third prize where they defeated Djurgården 4-1 and Tale Vedvik scored his sixth goal of the tournament which was enough to win the scoring league.
The final in the B playoff went between Qviding and Stureby. It was an even match where Qviding finally won 1-0 after a goal by Emilia Hedback.
So to the final of the A playoffs. Boo FF v BKBK, B v B. Was it a draw? Well, it was somewhat tight at the beginning of the match where neither team took any unnecessary risks. Much of the play took place in the centre of the pitch and the really dangerous chances near goal were missing. In the second half Boo dominated possession but BKBK defended with discipline. Time ran out for both teams to decide and when the clock struck full time, it was still 0-0 and penalties would decide. Once there, Boo was clinical, took home the penalty drama and thus also the first place in Lux Spring Cup F08.

Viola Åström, Boo FF
Boo FF showed strong character when they won the final on penalties but also in the group stage where they managed to turn two matches from defeat to victory. The engine behind this is captain Viola Åström, whose qualities both as captain of the team and as a player were directly decisive for the cup winners.
Shuttle league
Tale Vedvik, Flint
A player who breaks patterns and as a result often puts herself in goal-scoring positions. She also has the ability to convert these situations into goals, which makes her a goal-scorer of rank. Scored six goals in as many games and was instrumental in Flint travelling home to Norway with the third prize in the luggage.
Goalkeeper of the tournament
Maya Magdesjö Blanco, BKBK
BKBK conceded the fewest goals in the entire tournament and, in addition to a disciplined defence, they have Maya to thank for that. She radiates a certainty that is contagious to her fellow players and maybe that's why it was enough all the way to the final for BKBK. Even in the final, Maya did not let herself be outsmarted and forced the match to penalties.
