Summary: Lux invite G2012 & G2013

69 matches, 2760 minutes and 46 hours of football were played over the weekend. With an incredibly strong starting field in both age groups, it was set for a real football party in Kristinehamn Arena.

- If you have an ambitious team, you should not miss this, says Arian Faily, coach of Jitex BK.

Framing

Once again it was time for a fast-paced tournament in Kristinehamn Arena, this time for girls born in 2012 and 2013. In the hall, music was playing in the speakers and the sound of broadsides against balls echoed during the warm-up. The stands were filled with lyrical parents and spectators. Expectations rose and the atmosphere was palpable. It was finally time for the cup.

With the whistles blown, the referees started the first group stage matches and the cup was on. It was full steam ahead from the start with matches that constantly followed each other. An intense match meant that the leaders had to focus on keeping the girls both alert but also motivated throughout the tournament.

- "It's just the right amount of matches. Six games in three days, so the girls can really work hard without getting down on their knees," says Malmö FF coach Tomas Roth.

The matches

For the girls born in 2012, Finnish teams HJK and Ilves came to the tournament with two teams each and they impressed from the first minute. They offered effective attacking football that proved difficult to stop for the other teams. Stockholm teams BP, Hammarby and IFK Lidingö also showed their mettle with entertaining football.

Even and well-played matches characterised the girls born in 2013 most during this tournament. An incredibly strong starting field where many teams got the chance to show what they were made of.

- "I had expected a little more difference between the teams but all the teams have performed very well. It has been very even matches," says Djurgården coach Samuel Johansson.

The big picture

After a weekend of fast-paced football, enthusiastic spectators and happy girls, the tournament was rounded off on Sunday. Individual prizes were awarded to the girls who had excelled. As time went by, the arena emptied of teams who headed home after an intense and eventful weekend. Afterwards, both girls and leaders were very happy with the weekend.

- "There were many things that were fun about the cup. You got to play a lot of games and meet a lot of good teams," says Malmö FF's Amelina

- "It's probably the best organised cup we've been to. If you have an ambitious team, you should not miss this," concludes Jitex coach Arian Faily.

We wish all the teams the best of luck for the coming season!
