Last weekend it was boys 2010. This weekend we were back with Lux Spring Cup in Kristinehamn Arena, this time with the boys 2009 class. The starting field consisted of, as usual, several talented teams from both Sweden and Norway. Some had travelled further than others, and this is how they fared.
Group stage
The Cup was kicked off by Örebro SK and Sollentuna FK with a match in Group A. Örebro had the upper hand in the match but found it difficult to break through Elis Björk in the Sollentuna goal, who saved two penalties. In the end, Örebro got the ball in and won 1-0. In the following match Backatorp IF played against BK Sport. Gothenburg against Eskilstuna. 35 minutes could not separate the teams and the match ended 0-0. The group was even and relatively poor in goals, but when it was summed up, Örebro and BK Sport had secured the A playoffs and Backatorp and Sollentuna would try their luck in the B playoffs.
Next in line was Group B and Hvetlanda GIF came out fired up and defeated Örebro Syrianska in the opening game 11-0. Nour Sulieman and Elichadai Batungwa in Hvetlanda each scored a hat-trick. In the match that followed, Bollstanäs SK played against Forssa BK in a match that ended 1-1. The group was even until the end but Hvetlanda came out on top, Forssa second, Bollstanäs third and Örebro Syrianska fourth.
At around 5pm on Friday, it was time for Group C FC Real International from Jönköping and Västra Frölunda from Gothenburg had that honour. The Smålanders were a few notches sharper and won 4-0 in the match where Lowe Wennblad and Benjamin Oguz accounted for the goals. Kista SC and Norwegian Årvoll IL 1 played the other match in the group. Kista SC drew the longest straw and won 3-0 in that match. Once the group was completed, goal difference separated second from third, which sent Västra Frölunda to A playoff and Kista SC to B playoff. FC Real topped the group with three straight wins and a 10-0 goal difference.
Group D was last out and would prove to be really even. FC Rosengård started with a match against Årvoll IL 2. No first-match nerves for the Scots who won 3-0, a good result for Rosengård but the goal difference would be decisive. FC Kallfors played Hammarby TFF in the last match on Friday and here it was hot and even but Kallfors could finally win with an equaliser, 1-0. Three teams had the same points when the group ended and Rosengård's goal difference was not enough for the A playoffs. Kallfors and Hammarby took those places instead. Årvoll 2 also made it to the B play-offs.
This is what all the groups looked like when they had finished playing:

Playoffs
On Saturday evening, the play-offs kicked off. First out was the quarter-finals of the A play-offs and Örebro SK against Forssa BK. It was an even story where Örebro was the bigger number and could win with 3-2. In the other quarter-final of the A playoff, Hvetlanda took a 1-0 win against BK Sport. Elichadai Batungwa scored the only goal in that match. FC Real faced Hammarby TFF in the third quarter-final. FC Real led the match 1-0 for a long time and looked set to clinch the semi-final spot, but TFF wanted something else and equalised late on. Once at the penalties, it was FC Real who was the coolest and got their place in the semi. FC Kallfors took the last spot in the semi-finals after they defeated Västra Frölunda 3-2. Ludvig Forsell was the big hero of the match with his two goals.
From B play-off quarter-finals Backatorp, Bollstanäs, Kista and Rosengård advanced to the semi. All with relatively convincing wins except Bollstanäs who really had to fight for 2-1 against Sollentuna.
Once in the semi-finals of the B play-off Kista started the match against Backatorp. Kista took the lead early, later extended it and eventually won 3-0. In the second semi-final, Bollstanäs faced Rosengård. Rosengård's Nathaniel Perez Torres scored the only goal of the match on penalties and thus shot his team to the final. Bollstanäs got their revenge in the third prize match when they won against Backatorp with 4-0. Bollstanäs Elias Isaczon crowned his cup adventure with a hat-trick in that match.
In the first the semi-finals of the A play-off Örebro SK was drawn against FC Real International. After 35 minutes, the score was 1-1 and penalties had to decide. FC Real repeated the feat they did in the quarter-finals - winning the penalty shoot-out - and made it to the final. In the other semi-final, Hvetlanda GIF played FC Kallfors. Hvetlanda closed the shop as in so many games before and their Nour Sulieman scored the only goal of the game which took them to the final. The third prize was taken home by Örebro SK after defeating FC Kallfors 2-1.
The final of the B play-off went between Kista SC and FC Rosengård. The match was close for a long time but in the end Rosengård could open the scoring through their Simon Nilsson. It was also the only goal of the match and FC Rosengård can bring a first place in the B playoff of Lux Spring Cup 2009 to the books.
Småland derby in The A final. FC Real International from Jönköping against Hvetlanda GIF from, well, Vetlanda. Hvetlanda started the final with a bang and before we knew it, it was 2-0 after goals by Melker Jansson and Vincent Claesson. FC Real worked their way into the game but soon suffered a setback when Hvetlanda scored their third goal on penalties through Elichadai Batungwa. FC Real soon suffered a setback when they scored a penalty themselves. Benjamin Oguz took care of that reduction. Hvetlanda and Nour Sulieman, however, wanted something else and quickly responded by extending the lead to 4-1. Salman Jama Mohammed also got on the scoresheet along with Melker Jansson and Nour Sulieman who each scored another. The last goal, however, went to FC Real and Kasper Vibeke when the final score was set at 7-2 to Hvetlanda GIF.

Honours and awards
MVP
Benjamin Oguz, FC Real International
Versatile player with a nose for goal as well as a flair for defence. He scored five goals during the tournament, played in a few more and stopped at least as many in the other direction. But what perhaps distinguishes him most are his leadership qualities. As captain, Benjamin successfully led his team through two penalty shootouts and was directly instrumental in the team reaching the final. Benjamin Oguz has all the qualities of a great captain.
The shooting league
Nour Sulieman, Hvetlanda GIF
He not only scores goals, he scores beautiful goals. Players like Nour make football beautiful. The scoring race was tight until the end, but with just a few minutes left in the final, Nour stepped up and scored his second of the match and eighth of the tournament. With that, he also pushed himself into the scoring lead, which became the scoring league win. Well deserved to say the least.
Goalkeeper of the tournament
Alvin Franca, Hvetlanda GIF
Did an extremely stable group play and playoffs together with his goalkeeping colleague Bilal Slajvar. Alvin guarded Hvetlanda's cage in the final and how he did it. On several occasions he denied FC Real to enter the match with his brilliant play on the line. Hvetlanda consistently showed an extremely strong defence and as the football fan knows, it starts at the back, with Alvin.
